Me and Sewing
My relationship with sewing began in 2006, when I first got pregnant and wanted to sew baby stuff for my first child. It was then I enrolled in a patchworks class in Brazil, where I first learned how to sew by hand.
From there, me and my friend sold tons of the bags and T-shirts we made together. Then when I moved to the USA, I brought my sewing machine but… with such a new and different culture before me, I put aside my sewing for the time being…
Like many people, the pandemic allowed me to revisit old hobbies I had dropped, and that’s when I made my second quilt, and then my third, and… I overloaded my first sewing machine from just how much I had sewed! I needed a new toy. So, I bought my first Bernina and my super powerful industrial Juki. I’ve been having so much fun since.
Then I thought about selling the stuff I made; first it was to friends and family, and then it spread to neighbors, community members… In 2022, I took my first step and participated in my very first craft show, which was so important to me. I learned a lot from not only the event itself, but also from other vendors.
Now, I sell my product on Etsy, and since my first show, I have been participating in several other fairs and craft shows every year.
